Nanny's House-Memories

It's always a challenge to get to Nanny's house

but once we get there we have a lovely time.

 It is a different pace.
It is evening fires with wieners and marshmallows.
It is walks to the wharf to see the boats.
 It is outdoors,

smelling the flowers,
 skipping rocks in the ocean,

eating lobster, drinking tea, climbing trees,
and just relaxing.
I have very fond memories of this place.
It is special time with my family and friends.
 Enjoying my mother's company,
and remembering the people who are gone.
They are with me when I am home.
It is remembering sitting in my brothers car listening to the radio when I was a teenager. I wonder what he would be doing, what he would be like if he were alive.
It is remembering my dad, seeing him sitting at the end of our kitchen table drinking his tea, remembering his hands, they told the story of his life, hard work and dedication to his family.
I went to visit his grave today.
He has not been with us for many a Father's Day.
I miss him.
It is really nice to get back to where you came from.

One day when Jane is older we will bring her back to
Hunan.
We will bring her to her finding place in Hengyang.
We will take her to her orphanage.
We will give her what we can.
I hope it is enough to fill her with peace and help her make her way in this unfair, uncertain world
As we race through life, we tend to forget the important things. It's tough because we are all busy. We take a lot for granted. Sometimes we just need to slow down and remember what is really important.
Those we love.
