Our last day at the cottage always leaves our heart a little heavy. The spirit of our little log home fills us to the brim. It is the ultimate escape. Sunday was just beautiful, a day to get out and enjoy winter.

Dewie dew, as she is affectionately referred to, was just as snug as a bug.

Daddy cleared the ice several times, trying to get a hockey game on the go. It was a full time job as the snow just kept falling and falling. Here he helps Jack with his skates.

Jane has been in our arms only a couple of months. She is such an amazing little girl. She amazes us daily as she reaches her milestones with leaps and bounds. Is she walking? Well, not exclusively. Her record is 22 steps without flopping on her bum. Her brothers were so proud!

She toddles short distances and realized this week that this was also a ride on, what fun!

Love, love, we are bursting with love.She is so in love with her brothers!

Cuddly, cuddly. Her arms go up for all of the boys.She calls out ba to get their attention. She misses them so when they go off to school.

My hair is growing fast. Mommy can't wait to get the pigtails going. I like to play a game with her. I pick out a beautiful flower for my hair every morning, pass it to her to clip in, then I whip it right back out. I get such a kick out of it. Mom is not as thrilled!

A princess needs a castle wherever she goes.

I always hear mom saying she can't keep up with the housework. I figure I can help with the dishes!

I am no pushover. I know what I want and what I don't want!

I am just checking to see if my brothers are  still playing video games or if they can come play with me. I won't fall over the stairs, I won't!

Mom is trying to study for  her nursing refresher exams. What a  joke! Forget about the housework mom and just study when I nap!

Five very long years waiting, hoping and dreaming about a little girl, a daughter. You cling to tangible things, you shop. A symbol in the Chinese adoption community is the ladybug. Families have taken the ladybug as their symbol of hope. Hope for a referral. Hope that they will get the daughter or son they have ached for and yearned for. Here is my little ladybug in her drawer. She is just as cute as a bug.

I search and looked and ordered the perfect bedding for my little princess,problem is she won't leave a blanket on her. In China, the children are swaddled and bundled in layers. This little girlie is not interested in that anymore.

Sometimes we drop in daddy's office if we are out and about.

Daily, people ask me where I get Jane's beautiful clothes. Well, I am a huge fan of a clothing line called Matilda Jane. Matilda Jane donates their 2nds to orphanages. Isn't that just the best! I am hoping that Jane's orphanage will benefit from that this year. We went to her orphanage and I saw first hand the need. Here she is in some of her MJ clothes. All the brothers have gone back to school. It is just the princess and I here at the house. I made the mistake of leaving the bag of dehydrated fruit next to Jane. She is into everything!

How could you get upset with a cutie like that? Never!

Happy New Year from the Cottage

This is our little sanctuary in the woods. We love it. No telephone ringing. Family time, movies on the big screen, scrabble, cards, pj's and chillaxin! We just had the land cleared, so lots of trees and shrubs to come.We use it year round and we love it!

We had a quiet New Years. Jane was asleep when 2011 was rung in. I was cuddling Jack and Dave was watching a movie with the older boys. No party, no people, just us...pure joy!
